Damien Thorn grows up in a wealthy family, with a diplomat father and every care in the world. Nothing in his environment explains what he leaves in his wake: «accidental» deaths, a nanny who hangs herself smiling, a force that protects the boy and eliminates anyone who comes near. Because Damien is not made: he comes ready-made. He is the Antichrist, and his evil is a sealed prophecy. The Omen (1976) is the fantasy of criminal determinism pushed to its theological extreme —exactly what real behavioral genetics declares impossible—.
