The owner of this Site is Antonio Javier Castillo Martín (hereinafter, “the Owner”), with Spanish tax ID (NIF) 53772774Q and address for notification purposes at Avenida de las Erillas s/n, local 9, 41900 Camas (Sevilla). You can contact the Owner at contacto@kriminis.com. Hosting is provided by Hostinger (Hostinger International Ltd.).
The contents of KRIMINIS have an informational and educational purpose. The analysis of works of fiction and of characters is carried out under the right of quotation and commentary, with no intention of replacing the original works. The trademarks, titles and characters mentioned belong to their respective owners and are cited solely for illustrative and critical purposes.
The Owner strives to ensure that the information is accurate and up to date, but does not guarantee that it is free of errors and accepts no liability for decisions made on the basis of the contents, which do not constitute legal, psychological or clinical advice. For any inquiry, you can write to contacto@kriminis.com.
02Privacy policyYour email, only if you subscribe (with double opt-in), and whatever you choose to send when you use the Profiler, the notifications, the gallery, the leaderboard, the classrooms, the invitations, cross-device sync, the community readings or the Aula waiting list. Exercise your rights by writing to contacto@kriminis.com.
Data controller: the Owner identified above. Contact: contacto@kriminis.com.
What data we process and for what purpose. If you subscribe to the newsletter, we process your email address for the sole purpose of sending you the Site’s new case files and news. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) of the GDPR, Regulation (EU) 2016/679), which you give by submitting the form and which you can withdraw at any time via the unsubscribe link in each email.
Features that send data to our server. Almost all of KRIMINIS runs only in your browser: your progress, your streaks and the case files you have read are stored in its local storage and do not leave it, unless you turn on cross-device sync. A few features need a server, and they only send data when you use them:
- The AI Profiler, the Copilot, the devil’s advocate, the screenwriters’ workshop, the interrogation and the search-by-memory tool. The text you write (the description, the question, the defense, the draft of your villain, what you ask the suspect or what you remember about a villain) is sent to the Claude API (Anthropic) to generate the response. KRIMINIS does not store it or associate it with you. We recommend that you do not include personal data in it.
- Notifications. If you turn them on, we store the technical subscription that your browser creates (an address of the notification service and its keys, with no name or email), your language, the topics you choose (the trial, open cases, your franchises, the awards night or the daily notice) and the franchises you follow, in order to send you at most one notification a day. It is deleted when you turn them off or when your browser invalidates it.
- Friends League. If you create a group or join one with its code, we store the group name, the alias you choose (it can be a pseudonym) and your XP for the week, which the other members of the group can see. Your browser creates a random identifier so that nobody else can change your entry; that identifier is not shown. You can leave the group whenever you like, and a group with no activity for a year is deleted automatically.
- Tier list gallery and weekly League leaderboard. If you choose to publish, the name you choose (it can be a pseudonym) is displayed next to your tier list, or next to your XP for the week, your streak and your level. For the leaderboard, your browser also creates a random identifier that prevents anyone else from modifying your entry; that identifier is not published. You can leave the leaderboard whenever you want from the League itself, and a new one starts every week. To remove a tier list, write to us.
- Duel votes, verdicts, the Trial of the week and the predictions. These are anonymous: one is simply added to the counter.
- KRIMINIS Aula waiting list. If you sign up, we store your email, the profile and the subject you indicate (optional), your country (optional) and the date. We use them only to notify you when Aula is available and to ask for your opinion on the sample pack; we do not share them with third parties or use them for the newsletter. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you give by ticking the box on the form. We keep them until Aula launches and for no more than twelve months; you can ask us to delete them sooner by writing to contacto@kriminis.com. They are stored on Cloudflare’s infrastructure.
- Live classes. Anyone who joins a live class types a nickname, which the teacher and the rest of the class see along with their score. Nothing else is stored, and the class deletes itself after three hours.
- Classrooms. If you create a classroom, we store the name you give it and a key, which stays only in your browser, for managing it. Anyone who joins a classroom chooses an alias, which the teacher and the rest of the classroom see along with their best score and their number of attempts. We do not ask for a name, email or any other data, and we recommend using a nickname instead of a real name; if you teach minors, tell them to use a nickname. The teacher can remove any participant or delete the classroom at any time, and each classroom is automatically deleted 180 days after it was created. They are stored on Cloudflare’s infrastructure.
- Invitations. Your browser creates a random identifier that is added to the links you share. When someone opens one, that identifier and the random identifier of their browser are sent to our server, solely to count how many different people have opened your link. Neither of them identifies you or is linked to any other data. To stop the counting, simply clear the Site’s data in your browser.
- Community readings. If you submit your reading of a villain, we store the text, the theory you choose, the case file, the alias you type (it can be a pseudonym) and the date. Nothing is published until we have reviewed it; if it is approved, it is displayed with your alias on the case file and on the readings page, and other readers can vote on it (the vote is anonymous and is simply added to the counter). Those that are not approved are deleted. If you want to remove a published reading, write to us at contacto@kriminis.com. We ask you not to include personal data in the text.
- Account and cross-device sync. If you turn it on in “Your account”, we store a copy of your progress on our server so that it is available on all your devices: the case files you have read and when you first opened them, your albums, the notes in your notebook, your votes, your open cases, your progress in the League, the Krimindle and the course, the name you have set in the League or the Passport (it can be a pseudonym), your watchlist, your golden cards, the Friends League groups you belong to and the keys of the classrooms you manage. The copy is linked only to a random code that is created when you turn it on: we do not ask for a name, email or password, and it does not record which pages you visit. Anyone who has the code can view and change that progress, so keep it safe like a password. You can download your data and delete the account at any time from the same page; if nobody uses it for two years, it deletes itself.
To prevent abuse, the server uses your IP address to limit how many requests can be made per minute; it does not link it to any other data. The legal basis for this processing is providing you with the feature you request (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and, in the case of the gallery, the leaderboard, the classrooms and the community readings, your consent when you publish (Art. 6(1)(a)), which you withdraw by leaving the leaderboard, asking us to remove your tier list or asking the teacher to remove you from the classroom.
When you browse, our measurement and advertising providers may process technical data (such as your IP address or device identifier) as described in the cookies section.
Retention. We keep your email for as long as you remain subscribed; after you unsubscribe, we delete or anonymize it within a reasonable period. The subscription uses double confirmation (double opt-in): you will receive an email to confirm that it is you before it is activated.
Data processors. We work with providers that process data on the Owner’s behalf under the corresponding data processing agreements: Brevo (Sendinblue SAS, EU) for sending the newsletter; Umami (Umami Software, Inc., USA), Cloudflare Web Analytics (Cloudflare, Inc., USA) and Plausible Analytics (EU) for web analytics—all three cookieless; Cloudflare Workers (Cloudflare, Inc., USA) as the server for the features described above; Anthropic (Anthropic, PBC, USA) to generate the responses of the AI Profiler and the Copilot; and Gumroad (USA) to process payments for the Master, which processes your payment data in accordance with its own privacy policy.
International transfers. Some providers (Umami, Cloudflare, Anthropic, Gumroad) are located in the USA; those transfers are covered by the safeguards provided for in the GDPR, such as the standard contractual clauses. Brevo and Plausible operate within the EU.
Your rights. You can exercise your rights of access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction and portability by writing to contacto@kriminis.com. If you believe that we have not handled your request properly, you can file a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD) (aepd.es).
03Cookie policyZero tracking cookies; that is why you will not see any banner. The analytics we use do not use cookies.
A cookie is a small file that is stored on your device when you visit a website. At KRIMINIS we use three types:
Technical (necessary). Essential for the Site to work and to remember your basic preferences—for example, your progress in the free course, which is saved in your browser’s local storage. They do not require consent.
Analytics. To understand, in aggregate, which case files are read the most, we use Umami, Cloudflare Web Analytics and Plausible Analytics, which do not use cookies or track visitors individually. Since they do not use cookies or data that identify you, they do not require your consent.
Advertising. KRIMINIS does not currently display ads. If we display them in the future, third parties (for example, Google AdSense) could use cookies to personalize them and measure their performance; in that case, they would only be activated with your prior consent.
Today KRIMINIS does not use any cookie that requires your consent, which is why you will not see a cookie notice when you arrive. If in the future we integrate advertising or other non-essential cookies, we will display a notice so that you can accept, reject or configure them. You can delete cookies at any time from your browser settings.
In addition, the fonts are served from our own server (we do not use Google Fonts or external CDNs for fonts), so your visit does not share your IP address with third-party font providers.
04Affiliate disclosureSome links (where to watch, books) earn a small commission at no cost to you. The selection is independent.
Some KRIMINIS links—especially those for “where to watch” a work or for recommended books—are affiliate links. This means that, if you buy or subscribe through them, the Site may receive a small commission at no additional cost to you.
These commissions help sustain the project and keep the case files free. Our editorial selection is independent: we recommend works for their value in understanding criminological theory, not for the commission they generate. Affiliate links are technically marked as rel="sponsored nofollow" in accordance with the applicable guidelines.
KRIMINIS participates in the Amazon EU Associates Program. As an Amazon Associate, KRIMINIS earns from qualifying purchases: the book links in the case files lead to Amazon.es with our affiliate identifier. We may join other programs (for example, streaming platforms or other stores); when that happens, it will be identified in this section.
05Terms of purchase for the MasterA one-time-payment digital product, with a 14-day money-back guarantee, no questions asked.
Product. “KRIMINIS Pro · El Máster” (KRIMINIS Pro · The Master) is a digital product (downloadable PDF materials and associated resources) that is purchased through a one-time payment and includes lifetime access and its updates. It is an informational course with a certificate of completion; it is not an official degree and has no formal academic validity (see the note on the Master page).
Sale and payment. The sale and payment are processed through Gumroad (Gumroad, Inc.), which acts as the payment platform and seller of record (merchant of record) and issues the proof of purchase. By completing the purchase, you also accept Gumroad’s terms and privacy policy. Prices are shown in euros; applicable taxes are calculated and handled during checkout according to your location.
Delivery. Once payment is confirmed, you will receive access to the content immediately through Gumroad and the email address you provide.
14-day satisfaction guarantee. If the Master is not for you, you have 14 days from the purchase to request a full refund by writing to contacto@kriminis.com (or through Gumroad); we will refund the amount without asking you for explanations. This is a voluntary commercial guarantee, offered independently of and in addition to your statutory rights.
Right of withdrawal. As a general rule, for distance purchases you have 14 days to withdraw. However, since this is digital content with immediate download or access, the regulations provide that this right lapses once the download or access begins if you have given your prior express consent and acknowledge that you thereby lose your right of withdrawal. In practice, our 14-day guarantee offers you equal or greater protection.
Complaints and governing law. For any issue with your purchase, you can write to contacto@kriminis.com and we will try to resolve it as soon as possible. As a consumer, you are entitled to the rights recognized by Spanish and European Union consumer protection legislation, and you may contact the competent consumer authorities and bodies.
Access, rectification, erasure, objection… or the Master’s 14-day guarantee: everything is handled by email, with no forms.
